Rupi Kaur

Here are a few of my favorites from Rupi Kaur’s short poems.

“Despite knowing they won’t be here for long they still choose to live their brightest lives.”

-Sunflowers

“When snow falls

I long for grass

When grass grows

I walk all over it

When leaves change color

I beg for flowers

When flowers bloom

I pick them.”

-Unappreciative

“Representation is vital otherwise the butterfly surrounded by a group of moths unable to see itself will keep trying to become the moth.”

-Representation

“let it go

let it leave

let it happen

nothing in this world was promised or belonged to you anyway.”

-all you own is yourself

“Look down at your body whisper there is no home like you.”

-Thank You

“But what is stronger than the human heart which shatters over and over and lives.”

“The right one does not stand in your way they make space for you to step forward.”

“Of course I want to be successful but I don’t crave success for me I need to be successful to gain enough milk and honey to help those around me succeed.”

What is the greatest lesson a woman should learn

that since day one she’s already had everything she needs within herself it’s the world that convinced her she did not.”

“It is part of the human experience to feel pain do not be afraid open yourself to it.”
